Western Maine Community Action could not provide its services effectively without the use of volunteers. All WMCA volunteers receive orientation and training specific to the volunteer opportunity they’ve responded to fill. Volunteers determine the number of hours they would like to commit and work with their project supervisor to develop a personalized volunteer plan of service. Health Marketplace Navigator
WMCA is looking for volunteers with an interest in helping uninsured Mainers enroll in health insurance that meets their needs by becoming “Health Marketplace Navigators”. The Navigator program will rely on volunteers to give their time helping people access the new benefits available to them. WMCA is currently recruiting volunteers to fill this role.
Volunteer Health Navigators will:
• Complete 20 hours of online training and pass a test to receive certification.
• Provide one-on-one assistance to people applying for and enrolling in new coverage options.
• Help Community Action staff with group enrollment events at places like libraries and community colleges.
• Assist with public outreach and educational events.
As a Volunteer Navigator, you will be able to participate at a level that fits with your availability. Whether you want to help out for 40 hours a week — or just once or twice a month, your program staff will work with you to set an appropriate schedule. Customer Service Specialist:

WMCA is looking for a volunteer with strong people skills who is willing to greet customers at the Wilton Customer Service Center. The right volunteer for this opportunity will be someone who has basic office skills, including filing, word processing, and answering telephones, and has the ability to treat all customers with respect and dignity. Volunteers responding to this opportunity can expect to provide some front desk receptionist coverage after completion of orientation and training, combined with other tasks such as file organization, and basic office duties, including copying.
