Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) daycare providers came together on September 27, 2017 to work on incorporating whole grains into meals and snacks by making recipes made with whole grain flour and other whole grain products at the WMCA service center kitchen. This training helped them become more prepared for the new meal pattern changes that went into effect 10/01/17, which included adding whole grain foods to their menu at least once a day. Daycare providers broke up into teams and worked together to make pumpkin bread, chips/crackers, French toast, and pancakes all made with whole grains. They reaped the benefits of their hard work with a taste testing at the closure of the training. Trainings like these, not only help expand daycare providers knowledge, but help them acquire credits towards their home daycare license at no cost to them.
